Who Am I?

I'm Kat Traxler, a Security Professional specializing in cloud research and security architecture design, focusing on public cloud, container orchestration systems, and IAM platforms.

My hats have been colorful, misshapen and diverse. This includes holding roles as a penetration tester targeting web applications and cryptographic infrastructure as well as hand-wavy strategy positions. I've has worked professionally in cloud security research to inform detection efforts, engineer detective controls and overall intercept attacker behavior within the cloud control-plane. I currently apply my trade as the Principal Security Researcher at Vectra AI focusing on Public Cloud.

I've been active in the conference circuit for a number of years presenting various venues including the SANS CloudSecNext Summit, fwd:CloudSec and Sector on topics such as privilege escalation, bug-hunting and behavior economic incentives in security.

Beyond the day-to-day, I am also a faculty member of IANS and was one of the original co-authors of the SANS SEC549 - Enterprise Cloud Security Architecture.
